Where Uobo uses AI, what it can and cannot do, what happens to your conversations, and how to reach a person.

Version 0.4 · Effective 2026-10-24 · Next review 2027-04-13

Some of what Uobo does is done by AI. This page says where, in plain words, so you can decide what you are comfortable with.

The short version

  • Our personal car agent and the voice assistants in Uobo Connect are AI. They are not people.
  • They can make mistakes. Check anything that matters with the dealership.
  • You can ask for a person, though one is not always available. You can stop at any time.
  • They do not approve or refuse credit, set prices, or decide anything about you on their own.

You will be told#

  • The personal car agent’s first text says it is an AI assistant from Uobo and how to stop. If you ask whether you are talking to a person, it tells you it is an AI.
  • On a Uobo Connect call, the dealership decides what you hear at the start, including whether you are told an AI is answering and that the call is recorded.

What AI can get wrong#

AI can misunderstand you, mishear a name or number, or give information that is out of date or wrong. Listings come from other businesses and can change. Payment figures are estimates. The agent and the voice assistants give general information. They do not give financial, legal, insurance or mechanical advice.

Who sees your conversations#

  • Some of our team can read conversations to run the service and to check and improve accuracy. They do this on a need-to-know basis.
  • For Uobo Connect, the dealership you called receives the recording, transcript and summary.
  • To work, the AI processes your words through services run by our providers, who are bound by agreements that limit what they do with your information. We give the list of providers on request: email support@uobo.ca. For the agent, every request asks for zero data retention, so it goes only to providers that have agreed to keep nothing after they reply and not to train on it.

What the AI does not decide#

The agent and the voice assistants do not approve or refuse credit, set or change prices, or make any decision about you with legal or similarly significant effect. Prices come from the dealership's own listings. A person at the dealership decides what happens next.

Your options#

  • Ask for a person. On a call, say so. The assistant passes you to the dealership's staff when the dealership has turned on transfers and someone is available in its business hours; otherwise the dealership gets your details to follow up. By text, the agent cannot pass you to a person yet: email support@uobo.ca and someone on our team will reply, or ask the agent to have the dealership contact you.
  • Stop texts. Reply STOP at any time.
  • Ask us to delete your information. Email support@uobo.ca.
  • Not want a call recorded. The assistant cannot stop recording, so hang up and reach the dealership another way, such as by email or in person.

The standard we hold ourselves to#

Canadian privacy regulators have set out principles for responsible AI: have a lawful basis and meaningful consent, use information only for appropriate purposes, collect no more than needed, be open about using AI, stay accountable, let people see and correct their information, keep information accurate, and protect it. We aim to follow those principles.

Report a problem#

If an assistant said something wrong, harmful or confusing, tell us at support@uobo.ca. We review every report.
