Shopper Terms of Use

These terms apply when you text Uobo's personal car agent ("the agent") or use the free tools on Uobo's websites. They are from Uobo Canada Inc. ("Uobo", "we", "us"). By texting us or using the service you agree to them.

The short version

• The personal car agent is an AI assistant. It helps you work out what car fits you and searches listings. The decisions are yours.
• We are not a dealership and we do not sell cars. You deal directly with any dealership you choose.
• It is free for you.
• Reply STOP at any time and the texts stop.

1. What the agent is#

• The personal car agent is an AI assistant from Uobo. It helps you decide what car suits you, searches listings from dealerships, and explains your options. In texts it may introduce itself by a first name.
• We are not a dealership. We do not sell cars, and we do not act for you in a purchase. Every decision is yours.
• The agent and the free tools are free for you.

2. Contacting dealerships#

• The agent can ask a dealership about a car, such as whether it is available, its condition and its price, without telling the dealership who you are. Liking a car does not contact anyone: the agent offers, and asks only when you say yes.
• The agent gives a dealership your name, phone number and email only after it explains why it would help and you say yes, for that dealership and that car. Our team checks each email before it goes.
• Tell the agent at any time to leave a dealership out, or to stop contacting one for you.
• A dealership is an independent business. We do not control it, its cars or its prices, and we do not guarantee them. Any deal you make is between you and the dealership.

3. Information, not advice#

• Listings come from other businesses. Prices, availability, kilometres, features and dealership details can be wrong or can change at any time. Confirm everything with the dealership before you buy.
• Payment figures are estimates. Real financing depends on the lender, your credit and the dealership.
• What the agent says is general information. It is not financial, legal, insurance or mechanical advice. Before you buy a used car, get an independent inspection and a vehicle history report.
• The agent is AI, and it can make mistakes. See AI Transparency.

4. Texts#

The rules for the texts, including how often you may hear from us and how to stop them, are in the Text Messaging Terms.

5. Who can use the agent#

You must live in Canada, outside Quebec, and have reached the age of majority in your province or territory. The agent is not offered in Quebec at this time. Only text us from a phone that is yours, or that you have permission to use.

6. Using the agent fairly#

Do not use the agent to:

• break the law;
• harass anyone;
• send spam or automated messages;
• try to break or overload the service;
• get it to produce harmful content;
• misrepresent yourself to a dealership through us.

We may stop replying to anyone who does.

7. Your information#

The Privacy Policy explains how we handle it. People on our team can read conversations to run and improve the service.

8. Changes to the service and to these terms#

We may change, pause or stop the agent at any time. We may also update these terms. We post the new version here with a new date, and tell you by text if the change is significant. If you keep using the agent after that, you accept the new terms.

9. Our liability#

The agent is provided "as is". As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions you make based on information from the agent, including any purchase. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived. As far as the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to CAD $100, because the service is free.

10. Governing law#

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. This does not take away any right you have to use the courts of the place where you live.
